the cup in the forest
I choose this book because I was interested in fearful cover. This main character is Per and his girl friend, Nina, live in a big town. They are on holiday in the country. They are driving on a road near a big forest. ‘ It’s beautiful here,” Per said.” Let’s stop the car and walk in the forest.” However the forest is very dark and quiet. Nina said ‘I don’t like the place, I want to back to car.” Suddenly, Per falls over a tree. ‘Are you OK?’ Nina said. Then he sees some old stone. He thought that this is the very strange stone. Also, he move them with his hands. They are very heavy. ‘There’s a hole under the stones,’ he says. He put his hand into the hole. ‘Be careful’ Nina said. But he thought there aren’t animals in this dark forest. Per took something. He go out his hands from the hole. This is an golden old cup. ‘ look at this cup Nina, It’s very interesting but why this cup is here?’ There are a strange word on it. Nina looks the cup too. She thought it is beautiful and very expensive. The forest became very dark and cold. They go out the forest with taking the cup in his hand. They walk buck his car. Suddenly, Per stops. ‘What is it? Nina asks. Per looks something into the trees. ‘There is a man there,’ he said. But Nina doesn’t look anything. Per looks it again. ‘You’re right.’ He says. They went to a small town and they find a small hotel. Near the hotel is a museum. ‘We can take the cup to the museum in the morning.’ Per said. In this night, Per can’t sleep and goes to the window of his room. Also, he looks hotel garden. A strange man is standing there, he can’t move. Nina comes his room and Per said’ there is a strange man there.’ However Nina can’t see the man. In the morning, they go to the museum. Per and Nina take the cup to museum curator. ‘Do you know about this?’ Per asks. The curator looks the cup long time. ‘Where is it from?’ he said. ‘ I find the cup into hole in dark forest,’ Per said. ‘Take the cup back to the forest…now,’ the curator says. ’ Why? ’ Per asks. ‘Do you see the old words on the cup?’ The words says ’ This cup belongs to Hakon. Be careful.’ ‘Hakon is an old Viking name, there are some Viking graves in the forest. This cup is from Hakon’s grave. Take in back there now.’ After that, Par and Nina are drinking coffee in the hotel. ‘ Let’s take the cup back to the forest,’ Per says. ‘Are you crazy?’ Nina says. ‘Do you believe old man story? Hackon is only dead Viking.’ Suddenly Per sees the strange man across the room. ‘Look!’ he says. ‘Hakon is here! He’s in this café!’ Per across the room. But the man isn’t there. He back to the table but Nina and the cup isn’t there. Nina get on his car and driving away from the hotel very fast. Nina doesn’t stop. She is driving away with cup. Nina run away from the town. She is driving fast, very fast. But she isn’t afraid. Because she is thinking only money. Money is important to Nina. The cup is in a bag near her. Nina looks at it and smiles. She thinks Per is crazy. He is afraid of old stories about dead Vikings. But the cup belongs to me now. I’m taking it to Oslo. I can sell it there.’
Per runs to the museum and find the old curator. ‘Where is the cup?’ says the old curator. ‘My girlfriend has now,‘ Per answers. ‘That’s too bad, the cup belongs to Hakon. There are strange stories about Viking ghost. Take my car and go after your girlfriend!’
Nina drives for a long time. It is getting dark. There are no cars on the road. She can’t any towns or houses or people. But Nina thinks about money again and she is happy. Now it is raining. Suddenly, Nina sees a strange man. He is standing on the road. He is looking at Nina! His face is dark and angry. Nina scream and scream. She can’t stop the car and she can’t see the road. She only sees the man’s angry face. His eyes are cold and angry. The car leaves the road and hits a tree. Then it fall into a river. The water closes over the car. The car, Nina and the cup are in the river.
Later, the police come and take the car from the river. A policeman looks into the car. ‘there is a girl in here but she is dead.’ Per is there too. He is very unhappy about Nina. Suddenly, he sees a man. The old man is walking into the forest. He has his cup.
This story was not happy end but I fell this story is interesting. I thought it is not good to think about money. I care from the story.
